Description
Each side of a humpbacks tail is called a fluke, hence a humpback has a pair of flukes. These flukes are attached to the tail stock called a peduncle. The strongest muscle in the whales body. Humpback flukes can be 15 feet wide from tip to tip. With just a few twitches of their flukes the whale is able to propel its entire body out of the water!
