Description
Giant Kelp is a fast growing kelp, averaging 10 - 12 inches a day, but able to grow two feet in a single day during the summer. Stalks of Giant Kelp can grow up to 175 feet tall. This kelp anchors itself to a rock with a woody base that doesn't not circulate water. Small gas filled bladders at the base of each flat leaf blade cause the kelp to stand up straight and tall. The leafs fan out and create enrichment and environment for marine life.
